Gateway in Kent
Welcome to Gateway in Kent where our aim is to transform the way that public services are accessed.
The Gateway concept was the brain child of Kent County Council Chief Executive Peter Gilroy whose vision to modernise the delivery of public services was borne out of a passionate belief in responding to customer demand and meeting client needs. Gone are the days of drab and intimidating council offices. Gateway is designed around an open departmental store-style offering, giving a wide range of public and voluntary services in one convenient location, ideally situated on the high-street or in the town centre.
Gateway is about creating a better experience for people. In doing so we are improving the quality of life by joining public services and making them more accessible in a friendly and attractive way.
There are currently seven Gateway across Kent (Ashford, Dover, Maidstone, Tenterden, Thanet, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells) supported by two Mobile Gateway to increase access to urban and hard-to-reach communities in the county. Gateway welcomes thousands of visitors through their doors each month, and the Gateway ethos is set to spread across Kent with several new locations opening soon and more to come.
